Since 1986, when IVL initiated its first projects on wastewater, lakes, and air quality in China, we have continued to foster research collaborations in sustainable development. Today, we partner with research
institutes and organizations, providing consulting services in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), EPD reports,
low-carbon development planning, and carbon neutrality strategies. IVL’s extensive experience and expertise make us a strong partner in supporting these important developments.

This newsletter is a test version funded by the China Working Group (WG) of Intsam (the Coordination and Collaboration Platform for International Cooperation among Sweden’s Public Research and Innovation Funding Agencies). The China WG is led by Vinnova and includes representatives from The Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and STINT. The purpose of this test version is to explore the format and content for monitoring China’s development in research and innovation related to sustainability, which is relevant and important for Sweden, as well as for development in a European and global context.

IVL’s China Office has designed and compiled the contents of this test version, focusing on areas identified by the China WG, such as research, innovation, and policy development in the fields of climate and energy system transition, transport and mobility, sustainable urban development, circular economy, biodiversity, and resource efficiency.

This test version of the newsletter is part of Intsam China Group’s effort to enhance strategic monitoring of developments in China, with a focus on sustainability and global challenges relevant to the Swedish research, innovation, and business sectors.
